How to cook Garlic Pepper Beef (ala Jollibee)?

A seasonal dish in the Philippines, popularly made by the famous Filipino Fast food chain JOLLIBEE, where the tagline “Bida ang Sarap!” rings true. A sure way to get any kid or adult who takes a bite of their number one bestseller ‘Chicken joy’ smile with pure joy and delight! This Garlic Pepper Steak stir fry gets a number of netizens crazy over the dish during the holidays, or nearing the Christmas season. Not to be confused with its typical burger steak counterpart. This beefy version has a close semblance to some “Chinese beef with garlic sauce recipes”.

Not your common beef steak recipe. This version is simple but more impactful. Made of thinly sliced tenderloin beef, marinated in a savory rich soy sauce, oyster sauce, and pepper mix. While setting it aside, minced garlic is sauteed in a pan with a bit of oil till its crips and brown, making for a nice garnish at the end. The golden garlic are removed leaving a nice flavorful amount of garlic oil that the beef will be cooked in. Once slightly colored, the beef simmers in its own juices covered for a few minutes, adding a bit of water at a time to avoid it from burning. Taken out once tender and soft to make the delightfully rich pepper mushroom sauce made of butter, mushrooms, and all purpose flour thats cooked to a paste-like texture, adding small amounts of water at a time, then soy sauce and pepper to taste, finally adding a beef cube for a stronger meaty taste that completes the dish. This is then simmered to a thicker almost sauce-like consistency before the cooked beef is added back then simmered together once more for a better medley of flavors.
