No-Bake Macaroni

This Filipino style no bake Macaroni is made with elbow macaroni, spaghetti sauce, ground meat, onion, garlic, hot dogs, red bell pepper, beef broth cube, condensed milk, water, salt and pepper. It has been topped up with butter, all purpose flour, evaporated milk, cheese and pepper to taste. This no-bake macaroni is an easier version of your favourite baked macaroni. It is easy to make and can give you layers of meaty and cheesy goodness!

Macaroni is the type of dish which best fits all occasions or even just for a simple everyday meal. It has a complex combination of flavors including a rich tomato flavor, savoury meaty goodness and a creamy and cheesy top.

Baked macaroni is one of the famous pasta dishes which uses macaroni. But because not everyone has an oven at home, this recipe will give you a hack on how to make a no-bake macaroni pasta with the same quality and complexity. This recipe is totally hassle-free and can be made with easy-to-follow steps. All you need is a stove and a strong love for macaroni pasta.

HOW TO COOK NO BAKE MACARONI

In making this no-bake macaroni dish, keep in mind these three major ingredients—macaroni pasta, meat sauce and béchamel sauce. After we make them separately, our goal is to arrange them together in a large baking pan to become a hearty and rich pasta dish.

The first step is to cook the macaroni pasta through boiling, just like cooking other pasta. Following the package instructions is always the correct way to go.

Now that the first major ingredient is done, the next thing to prepare is the meat sauce. Simply sauté all the ingredients until it becomes a rich meaty sauce. This recipe uses hotdogs for a smoky flavor but you can also try to use ham and bacon if you prefer. The sauce will become thicker as it cools down. Combine the macaroni pasta and meat sauce.

The last major ingredient is the béchamel sauce. It is a white and creamy sauce usually used in different types of pasta. Start this white sauce by making a roux or flour dissolved in butter. This will give the béchamel sauce its thick consistency. Add the rest of the ingredients until you form a smooth creamy and cheesy sauce. To check for if your white sauce has the right thickness, dip a spoon and then draw a finger. If the sauce wipes clean and leaves an open space, then the sauce is ready.

Place some meaty macaroni pasta in a serving bowl. Pour a gorgeous amount of béchamel sauce on top and sprinkle some dried oregano before serving. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • For the Macaroni:
  • 500 grams elbow macaroni

  • salt

  • water

  • For the Meat Sauce:
  • 500 grams spaghetti sauce

  • 400 grams ground meat

  • 1 medium-sized onion (minced)

  • 4 cloves of garlic (minced)

  • 3 pieces hotdogs (chopped)

  • 2 tablespoons red bell pepper (minced)

  • 1 piece beef broth cube

  • ½ cup water

  • 2 tablespoons condensed milk (optional)

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • For the Béchamel Sauce:
  • 4 tablespoons butter

  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 3 cups evaporated milk

  • 1 cup quick-melt cheese

  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  • For the Macaroni
  • Boil some water in a pot and sprinkle some salt. See packaging instructions and cook the macaroni pasta until al dente.
  • Drain the water and let it cool.
  • For the Meat Sauce:
  • In a pan, add the ground meat and sauté until oil is rendered. Make a well in the middle and add the onions and garlic. Sauté the aromatic until light brown. Saute everything together.
  • Add the chopped hotdogs and continue sautéing until the hotdogs are light brown. Add the bell peppers and sauté for a few seconds.
  • Pour the spaghetti sauce and stir gently until well-combined. Add the beef broth cube and some water and stir to dissolve. Cover the pan and let it simmer for 15 minutes using low heat.
  • Do a taste test and adjust the taste using condensed milk (optional). Season with salt and pepper.
  • Simmer for another 3 minutes then remove the pot from the heat. Let it cool a bit.
  • Add the macaroni pasta to the meat sauce and then toss gently until well-combined. Set aside.
  • For the Béchamel Sauce:
  • Melt the butter in a pan. Add the flour and dissolve them in the melted butter to make a roux.
  • Add the evaporated milk in three parts while stirring continuously. Let it cook until the sauce becomes thick.
  • Add the quick-melt cheese cubes and stir until the cheese melts.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Serving the Macaroni:
  • Transfer the macaroni in a serving dish.
  • Pour some béchamel sauce on top of the macaroni.
  • Sprinkle some dried oregano before serving. Enjoy!

MGA SANGKAP:

Para sa Macaroni:

  • 500 grams elbow macaroni
  • asin
  • tubig

Para sa Meat Sauce:

  • 500 grams spaghetti sauce
  • 400 grams giniling na karne
  • 1 sibuyas (hiniwa ng maliliit)
  • 4 butil ng bawang (hiniwa ng maliliit)
  • 3 piraso ng hotdogs (hiniwa)
  • 2 kutsara ng red bell pepper (hiniwa ng maliliit)
  • 1 piraso ng beef broth cube
  • ½ tasa ng tubig
  • 2 kutsara ng condensed milk (optional)
  • asin at paminta

Para sa Béchamel Sauce:

  • 4 kutsara ng butter
  • 4 kutsara ng all-purpose flour
  • 3 tasa ng evaporated milk
  • 1 tasa ng quick-melt cheese
  • asin at paminta

PAANO LUTUIN:

Para sa Macaroni

  1. Magpainit ng maraming tubig sa isang kaldero at lagyan ng konting asin. Sundin ang package instructions at lutuin ang macaroni pasta hanggang maging al dente.
  2. Sa isang kawali, ilagay ang giniling na karne at igisa hanggang lumabas ang mantika. Maggawa ng space sa gitna at ilagay ang sibuyas at bawang saka igisa hanggang maging light brown. Igisa ang mga ito ng sama-sama.
  3. Ilagay ang mga hiniwang hotdogs at igisa hanggang maging light brown. Ilagay ang bell peppers at igisa ng ilang segundo.
  4. Ilagay ang spaghetti sauce at haluin ng mabuti. Sunod na ilagay ang beef broth cube at tubig. Haluin ito at takpan ang kawali. Hayaan itong maluto ng 15 minuto gamit ang mababang apoy.
  5. Tikman ang sauce at iadjust ang lasa gamit ang condensed milk (optional). Budburan ng asin at paminta.
  6. Hayaan itong maluto ng 3 pang minuto saka patayin ang apoy. Palamigin ito ng konti.
  7. Ihalo ang macaroni pasta sa meat sauce ng mabuti. Isantabi.

Para sa Bechamel Sauce:

  1. Magtunaw ng butter sa kawali. Ilagay ang flour at haluin ito para madissolve at makagawa ng roux.
  2. Ilagay ang evaporated milk ng tatlong bahagi habang hinahalo ng tuloy tuloy. Hayaan itong maluto hanggang lumapot.
  3. Ilagay ang quick-melt cheese cubes at haluin hanggang matunaw ang cheese.
  4. Budburan ng asin at paminta.

Serving the Macaroni:

  1. Maglagay ng macaroni pasta sa isang serving dish.
  2. Lagyan ng béchamel sauce and ibabaw neto.
  3. Budburan ng dried organo ang ibabaw ng macaroni bago ihain. Enjoy!
