Bean Patties

This Bean patties are patties filled with string beans, carrot, hotdogs, garlic, onion, red bell pepper, flour, corn starch, chicken cube, sugar, salt and pepper, making it colourful and appetizing to eat. Make your kids eat more veggies with this string beas patties recipe! Have it inside bread buns for a complete veggie burger experience. This can also be enjoyed as a snack or as an ulam.

Bean Patties

STRING BEANS PATTIES RECIPE

Ingredients:

  • 3 bunches of string beans
  • 1 small carrot
  • 2 pieces of hotdogs
  • 2 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • 1 small onion (minced)
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • Chicken cube (optional)
  • Red bell peppers
  • ⅓ cup of flour
  • ⅓ cup of cornstarch
  • Oil for frying

Directions:

  1. Prepare the string beans and cut the ends. Then, chop them into small pieces.
  2. Boil some water in a pot and cook the string beans for 5 minutes. When cooked, strain them. Set aside.
  3. Place the string beans in a large bowl. Add the garlic, onions and then season with salt, pepper and sugar. Next, add the carrots, hotdogs, diluted chicken cubes, red bell peppers, flour and the eggs. Stir and mix well then add the cornstarch.
  4. Heat some oil in a pan. Add a scoop of the string bean mixture and then fry for a few minutes. Flip them to cook the other side. Once brown and crispy, transfer them to a strainer or paper towel to drain excess oils. Do these steps with the rest of the mixture.
  5. Transfer the string beans patties to a serving plate together with your favorite dipping sauce. You can enjoy these as a snack, or have it as a sandwich, and of course, with some hot steaming rice. Yum!

String beans are one of the underrated veggies. We have been cooking string beans in the simplest ways like adobong sitaw, ginisang sitaw, and ginataang sitaw. With its green color, long features and fibrous taste, the string beans have a lot more potential when it comes to dishes.

I’m going to share with you a recipe on how my niece was introduced to string beans. It is important for kids to be introduced to food well so they will not be picky eaters in the future. For the record, my niece’s favorite food during that time was hotdogs. It was really hard to give her foods when there is no hotdogs. We even put some hotdogs in her pancit just for her to eat it!

Our main ingredient for the patties is the string beans. To prepare the string beans, simply cut the ends then chop them into small pieces. They should look like very small tubes. You can include other veggies for color. Simply combine all the chopped ingredients until you form a mixture.

String Bean Patties Recipe (TAGALOG)

Ingredients:

  • 3 bugkos ng sitaw
  • 1 maliit na carrot
  • 2 piraso ng hotdogs
  • 2 butil ng bawang (hiniwa ng maliliit)
  • 1 maliit na sibuyas (hiniwa ng maliliit)
  • asin
  • paminta
  • 1 kutsarita ng asukal
  • Chicken cube (optional)
  • Red bell peppers
  • ⅓ tasa ng harina
  • ⅓ tasa ng cornstarch
  • Mantika (pang prito)

Paano Lutuin:

  1. Ihanda ang mga sitaw at alisin ang mga dulo. Hiwain ang mga ito ng maliliit na piraso.
  2. Magpainit ng tubig sa pot at lutuin ang mga sitaw ng 5 minuto. Kapag malambot na, alisin ito sa tubig at isantabi.
  3. Sa isang bowl, paghaluhaluin ang mga sitaw, bawang, sibuyas, asin, paminta at asukal. Sunod na ilagay ang carrots, hotdogs, tinunaw na chicken cubes, red bell peppers, harina at mga itlog. Huling ilagay ang cornstarch. Haluin ang mga ito ng mabuti.
  4. Magpainit ng mantika sa kawali. Maglagay ng 1 scoop ng mixture at iprito ng ilang minuto. Baliktarin ang mga ito para maluto ang kabilang side. Kapag brown at crispy na, ilipat ang mga ito sa strainer o paper towel para tumulo ang sobrang mantika. Gawin ang mga steps na ito hanggang maubos ang mixture.
  5. Ilipat ang sitaw patties sa serving plate. Ihain ito kasama ng iyong favorite sawsawan. Kainin ito bilang meryenda o palaman sa tinapay, o kasama ng mainit na kanin. Yum!
