What is Sprite?
Sprite is a popular carbonated soft drink known for its crisp and refreshing taste. It is a clear, lemon-lime flavored soda that is loved by many around the world. Sprite is known for its tangy and citrusy flavor profile, which is achieved through a combination of natural and artificial flavors.
Originally introduced by The Coca-Cola Company in 1961, Sprite has become one of the most recognized and consumed beverages globally. It is often enjoyed on its own as a refreshing thirst quencher, but it is also used as a mixer in various cocktails and mocktails.

Sprite chicken wings is my go-to dish if I am craving for some softdrinks and would like to joke myself around by adding them into food. If I dont drink it but I used it as ingredient, then its better! (HAHA)
If youre an avid reader of my recipe blogs, then you might have noticed that I am always using Sprite in many of my dishes. Aside from the freshness it gives me when I drink it, its fruity hint provides a unique type of sweetness when added to dishes. Instead of adding sugar to my dishes to make it sweet, using some Sprite adds fruityness and also helps in tenderizing the meat, especially when I use pork and beef.
This beverage has been very useful and is a great addition to dishes. One of my favorite dishes which uses Sprite is my Sprite chicken wings. Instead of deep frying my wings (which is very unhealthy), I just let my wings simmer in Sprite sauce combined with my fave seasonings to have my ultimate chicken wings for movie night. The caramelized Sprite coating each wing was really delicious! If you havent tried this, make sure to try this recipe today.

How to Cook Sprite Chicken Wings
Making some Sprite chicken wings is super easy and straightforward. If you had made any coated chicken wings in the past, then this will be familiar to you.
First of all, prepare your chicken wings. If you plan to have these as an ulam or make papak, I suggest you get the largest wings. But if you plan to serve this as a pulutan or a finger food snack, you may cut the wingette, drumette, and the little flap to have 3 cuts instead of 2 per wing. This way, we can have more servings!
The first step in all chicken wing recipe is marination. Our special ingredient for this recipe would be… *drumroll please*.. Sprite! You may use any lemon soda if you like. For the marinade, we will use the Sprite to add fruity sweeness to each wing and to tenderize it more because of the carbonation. After just a few minutes, the chicken wings are ready.
To have its base flavors, saute the marinated wings with garlic and ginger. Since we are not deep frying the wings, only expect them to be light brown. The ginger will also help remove the raw and uncomfy smell of raw chicken. Pour the rest of the seasonings to make the sauce. Aside from the Sprite, I used the classic soy sauce and ketchup combination to have a barbecue feels in every bite. Keep an eye on the sauce. Since the Sprite has sugar, the sauce will caramelize.
Do a taste test to check if the chicken wings are fully cooked. Once the sauce is thick and coats each chicken wing, then it is done. If you want these spicy, you can add chili flakes, chili powder or chopped chilies.
Enjoy these sweet and tangy chicken wings as it is or have them as an ulam with rice or pulutan to ice cold beer. Yum!
