Yes, you can also make fried okra with bread crumbs, just flour, or you can remove the cornmeal and flour just keeping the seasonings to deep fry, or make beer battered okra by adding beer into the batter instead of buttermilk to make it puffier and smoother.

You can use sauces as simple as hot sauce, ketchup, sriracha, mayo, or a mix of sauces like honey mustard mayo, garlic mayo, barbecue sauce, ranch, any sauce of choice.
- Cooking methods?
- Pan fried okra – has less oil and is a good alternative to those interested in a ‘healthier’ version of the fried okra.
- How to cook okra on the stove? Fry these in a deep pot filled with enough oil to avoid spilling. These should bubble before at the bottom or bubble when you drizzle leftover flour to check if the temperature is high enough. Deep fry till golden.
- Fried okra recipe using an air fryer? Healthy, and turns up better than the pan fried version as these come out crispier. After the okras have been battered and coated, place these in the air fryer with or without parchment at 356°F or 185°C for 5 to 8 minutes or until crispy.
