Cheesy Ube Pandesal
I remember having this for the very first time on my table, I guess I felt like it was the most awaited moment of my quarantine life. Due to the public craze, I wasn’t able to find this specific pandesal to any of the bakeries I’ve inquired. It was always out of stock. And I finally succumbed to ordering it online. Yes, it is that of a priority for a pandesal to be delivered to our house from a very far bakeshop.
How to Make Cheesy Ube Pandesal
To have made this special kind of pandesal is really awarding and fulfilling. But, be warned to prepare lots and lots of patience.
First off, combine the yeast and sugar in a bowl of water. Let it sit for a few minutes before adding the salt, oil, and ube flavoring. Mix well. Now, add the flour to make a soft solid dough texture. Dust the work surface and start kneading for maximum of half an hour. Then, place it in a covered bowl and wait another hour for it to rise.
Be patient as you make this pandesal. Always be reminded of what lies ahead — the delicious ube pandesal with oozing cheese in your first bite.
After an hour had passed, you can now get the dough to cut it into pieces. This recipe yields 16-18 pieces of 1-2 inch small beautiful doughs. Stretch all sides of each dough then put a small block of your preferred cheese in the middle. Pinch and roll to smoothen the unwanted edges of your pandesal. Then, cover these doughs with parmesan cheese for extra flavor. Finally, bake it in the oven until the top browns. A good 15-20 minutes will be your last waiting time before you take it out from the oven and into the plates.
The long wait is over. You might be so excited to eat your cheesy ube pandesal but be careful because it is hot!
