  • Unsalted butter (or margarine)

  2. Add some space in the middle of every 2 loaf breads. Place the hotdogs in these spaces.
  3. Skew a barbecue stick in the middle and push it up to the other side. Then, do this with another 2 sticks to its left and right.
  4. Cut the edges to make sure that it is flat and straight.
  5. Slice the whole thing into 3 pieces, making it look like a barbecue with alternating bread and hotdogs.

When it melts and becomes bubbly, put one bread and hotdog skewer on top of the cheese and then roll to cover them with melted cheese. You may shake them a bit to make sure that the cheese sticks to the skewers. Roll it until the cheese covers the whole skewer. Wipe the cheese residues before doing all the steps again for another piece of skewer.
  9. Transfer the bread hotdog skewers to a serving plate. You can eat it as it is or drizzle a combination of ketchup, mustard and mayo over the top before having a bite. Yum!

THE HOT DIGGIDY HISTORY OF HOTDOGS

My first ever pet was a a cute aspin dog named JJ. My world shaked when I heard about the joke that hotdogs were made from the meat of our pet dog. It scared me and my dog, making me never want to eat hotdogs. I believed the joke until I was around 5, and only started eating them after I knew they weren’t made from real dogs.

Were you also curious on how hotdogs were made?

Hotdogs are one of the top snacks all over the world, but especially in America. While some people call hotdogs as sausages, these two foods are different. Sausage is a long food product made with ground meat stuffed well in a skin casing (kind of like our very own longganisa). Meanwhile, the hotdogs are sausages in a bun. Hotdogs were also called “dachshunds” because this breed of dog is thin and long, just like the hotdogs. (Now we know were the dog joke came from!)

Hotdogs evolve through time and now has its own unique characteristics and not just a sausage. Hotdogs made from pork are usually red, while the ones made with chicken are brown. Hotdogs are both salty and savoury.

Aside from being inside a bun, hotdogs is now enjoyed as an ulam. It also comes with different types like cheesedog, and in different sizes like jumbo, regular and cocktail. The hotdog and bread/bun combination is still on of the best up to date. If you are a fan of this one, then you should definitely try this bread hotdog skewer!

BREAD HOTDOG SKEWERS

Grilling is always fun until you smell like the smokey barbecue you’re cooking. With that, one of my most favorite cookware is my electric griller! I bought one from the Shopee sale (not sponsored) at an affordable price. Another perk of this cookware is it is relatively safer to use for kids when compared to the traditional griller. Since my niece wants to try some grilling, we’d try it with her favorite food: grilled cheesy hotdogs sandwich!

To feel the grilling vibes, we transformed the cheese, hotdogs and loaf breads into a skewer dish. The aim of this dish is to have alternating layers of hotdogs and bread which will be toasted and grilled to perfection. After that, instead of plainly drizzling some cheese sauce, we’ll melt some grated cheese in the same griller, and use it as a blanket to the bread and hotdog skewer. If you look at this dish, it contains the same ingredients as your favorite cheesy hotdog sandwich but is presented in a more fun way!

If this recipe excites you and you wanna know how to make these cute bread hotdog skewers, read and follow the simple steps below. Happy cooking!

HOW TO MAKE BREAD HOTDOG SKEWERS

Creating some bread hotdog skewers is truly easy and fun to make. Instead of turning them into a simple sandwich, let’s make them into skewers!

Some might find the steps a little complex, so I highly suggest watching the cooking video first. You can actually just cut the ingredients into smaller cubes but that would take much time.

Start with your loaf bread. Any loaf bread may do, but I don’t recommend the flavored ones for this recipe (ex: raisin bread). Cut them vertically into four long rectangles. Turn them all to the right (you can cut the edges of the bread if you like). Make spaces every two loaf breads, this is where you will put the hotdogs to make them alternating. After skewing the barbecue sticks, cut them into individual portions.

Get your home griller (or any flat pan). Melt some butter and grill your bread hotdog skewers. If you think that your hotdog won’t cook before your bread, you can pre-fry your hotdogs before skewing.

COOKING TIPS:

  • If you like this dish to be extra, you can add tomato and bell pepper slices too!

Punasan muna ang residue bago gawin ang mga steps sa iba pang ingredients.
