HOW TO COOK BAKED PENNE PASTA

Our baked penne pasta will have three major components—the pasta, the meat sauce and the white sauce. Preparing the pasta mixture is just like cooking the famous spaghetti pasta. See the package instructions and boil the pasta until al dente.

The next to prepare is the meat sauce. This sauce is just like the spaghetti sauce we know. The main differences are this meat sauce is meatier and is slightly more sour. Other added features is that it is spiced with dried oregano or Italian seasoning and is made creamier with cooking cream. To prepare the meat sauce, start with sautéing the ground beef and then add the other ingredients one by one until everything is well-incorporated. When the sauce is done, separate a few amount of sauce which will we use as a topping for later. Put the cooked penne pasta to the sauce and coat them well.

The last thing to prepare is the white sauce. This is easily prepared by just heating the cream and melting some quick-melt cheese on it. If you have a budget for this dish, you can use mozzarella for some ooeey gooey experience for later.

When the three major components are done, the last things to do are to assemble the pasta and then bake. In a square pan, make an alternating layer of the pasta and the cream. Fill the top with the white sauce and add some grated mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese. Bake the mixture for 30 minutes using 180C or 350F.

Ingredients

  • For the penne pasta:
  • 400 grams penne pasta (uncooked)

  • salt

  • water

  • For the meat sauce:
  • 400 grams ground beef

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

  • 2 cups tomato sauce

  • ½ cup onions (minced)

  • 3 cloves of garlic (minced)

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons sugar (optional)

  • ½ cup cooking cream

  • ½ cup grated cheese

  • For the white sauce:
  • 1 cup all-purpose cream

  • 1 cup quick-melt cheese

Directions

  • For the penne pasta:
  • Boil some water in a pot. Add the salt and the penne pasta. See package instructions and cook until al dente.
  • Drain and set aside.
  • For the meat sauce:
  • In a pan, saute the ground beef, onion and garlic. Add the tomato paste and tomato sauce. Stir until well-blended.
  • Add the chopped green bell peppers and 1 piece beef broth cube. Season with salt, pepper, dried oregano and sugar. Add water or beef broth. Cover the pan and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Add the cooking cream and some grated cheese. Stir until well-mixed. Let it cook for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Turn the heat off. Reserve some meat sauce for toppings.
  • Add the cooked penne pasta to the meat sauce and stir until all the pasta is well-coated with the sauce. Set aside.
  • For the white sauce:
  • Heat the all-purpose cream in a pan using low heat.
  • Once boiling, add the quick-melt cheese. Stir continuously until it slightly melts.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • For the baked penne pasta:
  • Place half of the cooked penne pasta in a baking dish. Add a layer of white sauce. Add the rest of the cooked penne pasta. Add the reserved meat for toppings. Add some white sauce.
  • Top the pasta with mozzarella or quick-melt cheese and parmesan cheese.
  • Bake the penne pasta for 30 minutes using 180C or 350F.
  • Serve the baked penne pasta hot. Enjoy!

Para sa Penne Pasta:

  • 400 grams penne pasta
  • asin
  • tubig

Para sa Meat Sauce:

  • 400 grams giniling na baka
  • 2 kutsara ng tomato paste
  • 2 tasa ng tomato sauce
  • ½ tasa ng sibuyas (hiniwa ng maliliit)
  • 3 butil ng bawang (hiniwa ng maliliit)
  • asin at paminta
  • 1 kutsarita ng dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • 2 kutsara ng asukal (optional)
  • ½ tasa ng cooking cream
  • ½ tasa ng cheese (grated)

Para sa White Sauce:

  • 1 tasa ng all-purpose cream
  • 1 tasa ng quick-melt cheese

PAANO LUTUIN:

Para sa Penne Pasta:

  1. Magpakulo ng tubig sa isang kaldero. Ilagay ang asin at ang pasta. Sundin ang package instructions at lutuin ang pasta hanggang maging al dente.
  2. I-drain ang pasta at isantabi.

Para sa Meat Sauce:

  1. Magpainit ng kawali at igisa ang giniling na baka, sibuyas at bawang. Ilagay ang tomato paste at tomato sauce. Haluin ang mga ito ng mabuti.
  2. Ilagay ang mga bell peppers at ang beef broth cube. Budburan ito ng asin, paminta, dried oregano at asukal.
  3. Maglagay ng tubig o beef broth. Takpan ang kawali at hayaan itong maluto ng 10 minutes.
  4. Ilagay ang cooking cream at cheese. Haluin ito ng mabuti. Hayaan itong maluto ng 3 hanggang 5 minuto.
  5. Patayin ang apoy. Maghiwalay ng kaunting meat sauce para sa toppings.
  6. Ilagay ang penne pasta sa meat sauce at haluin hanggang malagyan ng sauce ang lahat ng pasta. Isantabi.

Para sa White Sauce:

  1. Magpainit ng kawali gamit ang mababang apoy at ilagay ang all-purpose cream.
  2. Kapag kumukulo na, ilagay ang quick-melt cheese. Haluin ito ng tuloy-tuloy hanggang matunaw ang cheese.
  3. Budburan ito ng asin at paminta.

For the baked penne pasta:

  1. Ilagay ang kalahati ng penne pasta sa isang baking dish. Maglagay ng isang layer ng white sauce. Ilagay ang natitirang penne pasta sa ibabaw nito. Ilagay ang isinantabing meat sauce. Lagyan ng white sauce ang ibabaw nito.
  2. Budburan ng mozzarella o quick-melt cheese at parmesan cheese and ibabaw ng penne pasta.
  3. I-bake ang mixture ng 30 minuto gamit ang 180C o 350F.
  4. I-serve ang baked penne pasta ng mainit. Enjoy!
