Puso ng Saging Burger Patties

Puso ng Saging Burger Patties are simple, healthy, inexpensive filling patties made of banana heart cooked and blended with eggs, garlic, onions, liquid seasoning, flour, and some salt and pepper to taste. Scooped into the pan and flattened, fried till both sides have browned. Served with a side of spiced vinegar, ketchup, some rice or bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 large banana blossom

  • 4 – 5 medium sized eggs

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 medium onion, minced

  • ½ tablespoon liquid seasoning

  • ¼ cup all purpose flour

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Oil for frying

Directions

  • Slice the end of a banana heart, peel off the matured (darker colored leaves) leaves, until you get to the heart. Slice this in half, then into a quarter to remove the core.
  • Place these in a pot, pour in enough water to cover these. Bring to a boil and simmer till soft and tender. This should be easily pierced by a fork. Drain and let it cool down.
  • Once cooled down, blend or minced till you get your desired texture. Place this on a strainer and press down to remove any excess water.
  • Place the squeezed blossoms into a bowl with eggs, garlic, onion, liquid seasoning, and all purpose flour. Mix well. Before mixing in salt and pepper to taste.
  • Heat oil in a pan, scoop some of the mixture and flatten it a bit to turn it into a burger. Fry till one side turns golden brown before flipping. Once both sides have browned, take it out and place these in a kitchen towel.
  • Serve with a side of vinegar or ketchup.

These are then simmered into a pot filled with enough water to cover the heart, cooking till these are tender enough that a fork can easily pierce through it. Cooled down for a bit then blended as much as you’d like before placing these over a strainer to be pressed down to remove any excess water. You want it as dry as you can to make it easier to mold and fry later on. Too much liquids might also cause oil splatters when frying. Place the mashed blossoms in a bowl to mix with eggs as a binder to garlic, onions, salt, pepper, liquid seasoning for taste, and all purpose flour to help the patties keep its shape.

Prepare a pan with enough oil that’s hot enough that it slightly bubbles. Scoop a tablespoon full or more of the mixture into the pan. Flatten it a bit to form the patties. Mga Sangkap :

Paano Lutuin :
