Why are chicken wings a great choice of fast food

While watching sport shows, contests, games, and movies, chicken wings seem to be one of the best choices to make. The idea started when an New York establishment in 1960’s Buffalo called the ‘Anchor Bar’ was preparing for a late night snack when one of the owners cooked from leftover wings drenched in hot sauce. They were so delicious they added it into the menu and served it with a side of celery blue cheese sauce and were then called ‘Buffalo wings’. the bar used this popularity and promoted the concept of chicken wings as a snack to many establishments. This caught on locally then globally, and by 1990, they were so popular it began appearing on other restaurant menus around the world overnight.

May have said that the timing of the chicken wing’s popularity may have been because eating a ‘low fat’ diet was on trend during the 1980’s. it made the higher fat parts like the chicken wings less desirable but cheaper. This inexpensive part made it a great dish to have a good rate of return as well as pairing the hot and spicy chicken wings with beer made more customers to order more beer to reduce the heat in their mouths. This then after became a common dish to eat at beers, pair with drinks, and watch with.

Honey Butter as a flavoring

Honey butter is a mixture of honey, butter, with sometimes garlic or garlic powder, pepper, and salt. It’s a flavor you’ll find in popcorn and fries as a powdered flavoring, as a flavored butter spread over diner rolls and French bread, or brushed over banana bread to give it that nice sweet tasting sheen, recently being used as a flavoring for chips, or homemade and added onto potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, or any fried or baked goods like fried chicken, chicken wings, chicken feet, fried shrimps, calamari, fishes and many more. This is a quick and easy recipe you can do the day before and just fry the next day for more flavor. All you need is to clean the chicken wings, mix it in with a baking powder, salt, garlic powder, black pepper, all purpose flour, and water batter mixture, to be marinated for 30 minutes to overnight, take them out to be coated with cornstarch to make it crispy, it’s then fried in a pan with hot oil, flipped till all the sides have turned into a nice golden brown color, taken out of the heat to cool for a bit, then placed back into the boiling hot oil to be fried twice to make sure it’s extra crisp. Then taken out of the pan to strain the excess oil and to cool it down. While it’s cooling the sauce is then made in another pan with melted butter, garlic, soy sauce, honey, and sugar, cooked till the sugar has dissolved and the sauce is bubbling, place the chicken wings into the pan to be tossed and coated with the sauce. once coated, this is ready to be served on a platter decorated with sesame seeds.

A delicious crispy flavor pact snack that’s finger licking good

Ingredients

  • ½ kilo chicken wings

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • ¼ cup all purpose flour

  • ¼ cup water

  • ½ cup cornstarch

  • cooking oil

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 5 cloves minced garlic

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • sesame seeds

Directions

  • Place the chicken wings in a bowl; add in baking powder, salt, garlic powder, black pepper, all purpose flour, and water. Mix well till the wings are coated. Cover and marinate for 30 minutes.
  • Drench the marinated chicken wings in cornstarch.
  • Prepare a pan at medium heat filled halfway with oil. Fry the chicken wings for 8-10 minutes or until lightly brown. Set aside for 10 minutes.
  • Fry the chicken wings again in high heat. This makes it crispier and juicy. Fry for at least 2 minutes or its turned to a golden brown. After, take the chicken off the heat.
  • For the sauce; in another pan melt the butter, add garlic and cook till fragrant, add the soy sauce, honey, and sugar. Stir till the sugar dissolves and it starts bubbling.
  • Add the chicken wings in the pan. Stir well to coat evenly. Take it off the heat.
  • Serve with a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Sahog

  • ½ kilo pakpak ng manok
  • ½ kutsaritang baking powder
  • ½ kutsaritang asin
  • ½ kutsaritang garlic powder
  • ½ kutsaritang paminta
  • ¼ tasa harina
  • ¼ tasa tubig
  • ½ tasa cornstarch
  • mantikilya
  • 4 kutsaritang mantikilya na walang asin
