A short Introduction on Selecta

Selecta was founded in 1933 ( the foundation date was changed by Unilever RFM Ice Cream Inc, to 1948 ) by Ramon Arce who had a milk business in Novaliches and started pasteurizing carabao’s milk. His wife Carmen began making ice cream from carabao’s milk and sold these in the iconic golden tin cans. It was in 1970 that the carabao-based ice cream became available in multiple supermarkets. After partnering with Unilever to strengthen their market share in the ice cream segment market. The Iconic Selecta logo was made, a red heart with a swirl in the middle. Which was opposed to the older logo which only had the ‘Selecta’ typeface.
