Selecta was founded in 1933 ( the foundation date was changed by Unilever RFM Ice Cream Inc, to 1948 ) by Ramon Arce who had a milk business in Novaliches and started pasteurizing carabao’s milk. His wife Carmen began making ice cream from carabao’s milk and sold these in the iconic golden tin cans. It was in 1970 that the carabao-based ice cream became available in multiple supermarkets.
