This Baked Macaroni and Cheese or “Baked Mac and Cheese” is an easy comforting and very filling dish made of elbow macaroni cooked till al dente, doused in a creamy cheese sauce made of butter, all purpose flour, fresh milk, cheddar cheese, quickmelt cheese, with some salt and pepper to taste. The macaroni pasta is then mixed and placed in a serving plate to be topped with a breadcrumb and parmesan crust, baked until the top looks golden, then served. Ingredients

  • 400 grams elbow macaroni

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour

  • 3 cups fresh milk

  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese

  • ½ cup quick melt cheese

  • ½ cup shredded cheddar

  • Pepper to taste

  • Salt to taste

  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs

  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese

Directions

  • In a pot of boiling water, add in the macaroni and cook according to the package’s instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In another pot, melt butter, mix in all purpose flour until it looks like a paste/roux, pour in fresh milk while mixing, before adding cheddar, quickmelt, shredded cheddar, pepper, and salt.
  • Keep mixing until the cheese melts. Take the pot off the heat and pour this over the cooked macaroni. Mix until well combined. Set aside.
  • In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese. Top over the mac and cheese and bake at a 170°C or 350°F preheated oven for 30 – 40 minutes. Enjoy !
