  • 1/2 kilo prawns

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp mustard

  • 1 cup all purpose flour

  • 2 tbsp cajun seasoning

  • 1 tbsp salt

  • Oil for frying

  • 1/4 cup sour cream

  • 1/4 cup mayo

  • 1 tbsp chives

  • 1 tbsp dill

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 cloves garlic, chopped

  • Sliced lemon for garnish

  • Dried parsley for garnish

Directions

  • Prepare the prawns by pulling the head, peeling shells, keeping the tail intact, and removing veins using a toothpick to tug it out. Set aside.
  • In a bowl, combine 150 ml buttermilk, egg, and mustard. Whisk until well combined. Pour the buttermilk mixture all over the peeled prawns, let it marinate for 10 minutes to 1 hour.
  • In another bowl, combine all purpose flour, cajun seasoning, and salt. Mix well. Dredge the prawns in the flour mixture, set aside. Heat some oil in a pot, when hot enough, deep fry prawns for 1 to 2 minutes. Remove when golden in color.
  • To make the ranch dip: combine sour cream, mayo, remaining ¼ cup buttermilk, lemon juice, garlic and herbs. Mix well.
  • Serve fried prawns garnished with parsley, lemon, and a side of ranch dressing. Enjoy!
