Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Nonstick frying pan
  • Spatula
  • Ladle or measuring cup

Ingredients

  • 2 sachets Milo powder 22g each
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon oil or melted butter
  • ½ cup water or milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the Milo powder, all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the egg, water or milk, and oil or melted butter. Whisk until well combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
  • Mix gently until combined and no large lumps remain. Do not overmix.
  • Let the pancake batter rest for about 10 minutes.
  • Lightly grease a nonstick frying pan with oil or butter.
  • Heat the pan over low to medium-low heat.
  • Pour about ¼ cup of batter into the pan for each pancake.
  • Cook until bubbles appear on the surface and the edges begin to set.
  • Carefully flip the pancake and cook the other side for a few minutes, or until firm and cooked through.
  • Repeat with the remaining batter.
  • Serve warm with homemade chocolate sauce, fruit, powdered sugar, syrup, butter, or your favorite pancake toppings.

Notes

For fluffier pancakes, avoid overmixing the batter and allow it to rest for about 10 minutes before cooking. Use low to medium-low heat because the Milo and sugar can cause the pancakes to brown quickly. You can use either water or milk; milk will give the pancakes a slightly richer flavor. For extra chocolate flavor, add chocolate chips or serve with homemade chocolate sauce.
