A short introduction to Biryani
Biryani, the most popular dish in India, is a dish said to have originated 1500 years ago from South India or Iran. A mixed rice (usually using long grain rice) recipe that typically includes the meat of choice like fish, prawn, chicken, beef, lamb, or goat, sometimes none at all to cater to vegetarians. These are mixed with spices and other vegetables, sometimes even an egg to create that delightfully delicious aroma and color.
How to cook chicken biryani ?
The Chicken Biryani recipe ingredients are as follows; starting with heating up some oil to saute the onions and garlic ginger paste. Then add the chicken pieces, letting these cook while mixing till the chicken changes in color. After, it’s then flavored with the biryani mix, a splash or water, and some tomatoes to give it a nice savory taste. Add in some yogurt to help dilute the biryani sauce or ‘gravy’, sprinkle in some coriander, place in the chillies then cover and simmer for some time or till most of the gravy has dried up. Take it aside to cool down while cooking the rice in a pot of boiling water mixed with salt, cinnamon, and cloves. Cooked till it’s almost 90% done and drained. This is because this will then be layered and cooked for a few minutes in another pot; half of the rice at the bottom, the cooked gravy chicken in the middle, and leftover rice covering the top. Cooked altogether for a few minutes, topped with coriander and then mixed to make sure that the sauce covers the rice well enough for even flavor. Topped or garnished on the side with sliced lemons.
