  • Saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Cheese grater
  • Oven-safe baking dish (8x8 or similar)
  • Oven
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 5 medium potatoes peeled and sliced
  • 1 whole cheese block grated
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 5 pieces ham chopped
  • 5 pieces bacon chopped
  • 370 ml evaporated milk
  • 120 ml all-purpose cream
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 3 teaspoons all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Salt to taste
  • White pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Peel and slice the potatoes into thin, even rounds.
  • Boil the potatoes in salted water for about 10 minutes until just tender. Drain and let cool.
  • Heat a saucepan over medium heat. Melt the butter and stir in the all-purpose flour until a smooth paste forms.
  • Gradually pour in the evaporated milk while whisking continuously.
  • Add the all-purpose cream, nutmeg, salt, and white pepper. Stir until the sauce becomes thick and creamy.
  • Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F).
  • Arrange a layer of boiled potato slices in an oven-safe baking dish.
  • Spread a layer of white sauce over the potatoes.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly.
  • Add chopped ham and bacon.
  • Sprinkle another layer of mozzarella cheese.
  • Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with plenty of cheese on top.
  • Bake for 35 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.
  • Let the lasagna rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Avoid overcooking the potatoes, as they will continue cooking while baking.
  • Freshly grated mozzarella melts more smoothly than pre-shredded cheese.
  • Feel free to add mushrooms, spinach, or cooked ground beef for extra flavor and texture.
  • Let the lasagna rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing to help the layers hold together.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
