Ingredients

  • 2 pieces cucumber
  • 2 pieces onion
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar or white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  • Wash the cucumbers and slice them into slightly thin circles. Remove the ends if desired. Set aside.
  • Peel the onions and slice them into thin strips. Separate the layers slightly.
  • In a small bowl, combine apple cider vinegar, salt, pepper, sugar, and water. Mix until the sugar and salt are mostly dissolved.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced cucumbers and onions.
  • Pour the vinegar dressing over the vegetables. Toss until everything is evenly coated.
  • Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours to allow the flavors to develop.
  • Give the salad another gentle toss before serving. Enjoy chilled!

Notes

  • You can substitute white vinegar for apple cider vinegar.
  • Adjust the sugar according to your preferred sweet-and-sour flavor.
  • Add sliced tomatoes, green mangoes, or apples for extra flavor and texture.
  • For a creamy variation, add 2–3 tablespoons of mayonnaise.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and enjoy within 3–4 days for best quality.
  • Freezing is not recommended because cucumbers become watery and lose their crunch after thawing.
