Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Rolling Pin (optional)
  • Clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap
  • 8-inch frying pan or skillet with lid
  • Silicone spatula
  • Knife
  • Fork
  • Cutting board
  • Pizza cutter or knife

Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or olive oil
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon instant dry yeast
  • Pinch of salt

Toppings

  • ¼ cup pizza sauce or tomato sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup cooked pepperoni slices
  • ¼ cup cooked ham chopped
  • ¼ green bell pepper thinly sliced
  • ¼ small red onion thinly sliced

Optional: Italian seasoning, oregano, chili flakes, Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  • Add the oil and half of the warm water. Mix, then gradually add the remaining water until a sticky dough forms.
  • Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Shape into a ball, lightly coat with oil, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and flatten into an 8-inch circle.
  • Poke the dough with a fork to prevent air bubbles.
  • Grease a frying pan with oil and place the dough inside.
  • Cover and cook over low heat for 5–7 minutes.
  • Flip and cook the other side for another 5–7 minutes.
  • Flip once more, spread the pizza sauce evenly, then add the cheese and desired toppings.
  • Cover again and cook over low heat for 8–10 minutes or until the cheese has completely melted.
  • Remove from the pan, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use instant dry yeast for convenience since it doesn't require blooming. If using active dry yeast, bloom it first in warm water with sugar for 10 minutes until foamy.
  • Since the pizza is cooked on the stovetop, pre-cook meat toppings like pepperoni, ham, bacon, or sausage before adding them.
  • Cook only over low heat to prevent the crust from burning while allowing the cheese to melt properly.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle Italian seasoning, oregano, or chili flakes before covering for the final cook.
  • Feel free to customize the toppings with mushrooms, olives, pineapple, sweet corn, cooked chicken, or bacon.
  • For a thinner crust, divide the dough into two smaller pizzas. Double the ingredients if making a larger pizza.
