Spam Fried Rice

Who would prefer a day-old crunchy rice over a freshly-cooked warm one? I do! But of course I want it first to transform into a flavorful spam fried rice. Cooking a fried rice is an easy peasy task. Get some eggs and mixed veggies then put that rice into the pan.

Spam Fried Rice

Fried rice is an easy rice dish originated from China. From the name itself, it is basically just a rice stir-fried in a pan. But what makes it something special is that it mixes a variety of flavors from different dishes. Plus, no food goes to the garbage bag. In ancient times, the ingredients of fried rice are typically just leftovers of other recipes but it continues to evolve just like how it can be a special tasteful spam fried rice today.

Personally, I enjoy eating my hot delish spam fried rice beside my favorite chocolate drink in the morning especially when the weather is cold. I love the surprise tastes of each ingredient as I chew.

How to Make Spam Fried Rice

Making your self a spam fried rice will take less time and effort compared to cooking a dish and rice separately. Yes, it takes less effort to prepare as well but the final product is just as yummy and fulfilling. So you are very practical to save yourself all these things: effort, time, and money.

Basically, you begin with heating the pan then greasing it with some oil. Sauté first all the extras you want to include in your fried rice such as spam, bacon, mixed vegetables or some leftover meats. Finally, throw in the leftover rice and season with enough soy sauce. Make sure to stir everything well to cook all the parts equally.

  • 1/2 cup chopped cubes of spam

  • 3 minced cloves of garlic

  • 1 small chopped onion

  • 1/2 cup mixed vegetables (chopped carrots, green peas, and corn kernels)

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1/2 tablespoon of liquid seasoning (knorr)

  • pepper to taste

  • Using the same pan, add again some oil for sautéing chopped small-cubed spam. Wait for the spam to cook until brown for a few second before putting the garlic. Continue to sauté until it becomes aromatic.
  • Next, add the chopped onions and mixed vegetables. Transfer the leftover or a day old rice into the pan as well. Add drops of soy sauce and liquid seasonings for richer flavor.
  • Stir fry until every ingredient is mixed well. Add pepper to taste and butter. Lastly, add the scrambled egg which was prepared earlier. Give the spam fried rice a very good mix before transferring it to plates. Enjoy!
