WHAT ARE QUAIL EGGS?
Quail eggs are the type of eggs which are small but terrible. Quail eggs are the eggs of quail birds which are small, brown, and has a short tail. If these birds are small, so as their eggs. The most distinct feature of a quail egg is that, it is not pure white or pure brown. The color of the shell is a mixture of white and black. You can easily spot one once you see them at the market.
When cooked, the quail eggs is very much similar to the chicken egg. There is an egg white and egg yolk, but the ratio of egg yolks to egg whites is much larger for the quail eggs than on chicken eggs. This is why you sometimes hear that quail eggs are high in cholesterol, which is because of it’s yolk.
Unlike chicken eggs, quail eggs are usually boiled than fried. (That would be a super cute sunny side up egg, in case!) The most prominent recipe for quail eggs might be the kwek kwek, since you can find kwek kwek in any point of the country.
Aside from being eaten alone, boiled quail eggs are also added in different dishes to make it more special. One of those recipes is this recipe featured in this blog.
PORK GINILING WITH QUAIL EGGS
Convenient stores are not called convenient stores if they do not have almost anything that you can think of. Of course, there is ready to eat food. During my college days, the pork giniling budget meal from 711 had saved me from a lot of gutom days. Aside from the meal being cheap and affordable, the ulam is actually tasty, considering that it is from a convenient store.
A few months back, the 711 has trended on the social media because their pork giniling meal, which is placed in a box, is very difficult to open. I haven’t eaten much again from 711 after college, and this trend made me want to try their pork giniling again.
Their pork giniling is literally budget meal, but if you want a pork giniling which are a lot of steps better and yummier, try to do the pork giniling at home. The giniling can be made as it is, but we always want to have the best version of it since it is also us who would eat it.
In my version of the pork giniling, I added some quail eggs to make it yummier and more appetizing.

HOW TO MAKE PORK GINILING WITH QUAIL EGGS
Making some pork giniling with quail eggs is as easy as eating a peanut. When all the ingredients are ready, all you need to do is to turn them into one amazing dish. This can be done in less than 30 minutes!
Start with preparing and chopping all the necessary ingredients. In this recipe, I used some carrots and potatoes which needs extra chopping beforehand. You can add other veggies you like celery for more colors.
Make sure that you have boiled your quail eggs and have their shells removed. Boiling the quail eggs is very much similar with boiling the regular chicken eggs. A hard boiled quail eggs may take up to 3 minutes to cook.
Get the cooking started by sauteing the ground pork. No need to add oil in this since we will be using the natural oil rendered from the pork. It’s so crazy how many excess oils are in there! But at least, the oil we will use to saute the aromatics is already meaty. The ground pork may take time to cook so don’t just settle when they become brown. Always to a taste test to know if they are cooked enough.
The next thing to do is to add the veggies one by one. Both the potatoes and carrots are tough veggies, which means that they would require quite a time to cook. Add the rest of the ingredients and just wait for it to come together. You may add the quail eggs at a later time, like a decoration on the serving plate if you like.
I really love this dish as a rice topper in my big bowl of hot steaming rice. Yum!
